I have a much cheaper system, and it works really well in my hot garage. I cleared out a lower shelf in my freezer, and I keep a few bottles of water in there. The worms get a fresh bottle of ice twice each day, depending on the heat in the garage. Since I started doing this my worms are much happier (alive).

I forgot about them one morning, and when I went out to do my usual poke and check after dinner, they were all over the place; on the floor, on the roof of the bin, a few on the walls. It was awful. My other solution to keep them from sticking to the top of the bin, is to take the top off. They don't seem to travel all that often anymore. Finally, a pet that I can outsmart.

keep in mind that the temp of the bedding will not only remain much more stable than the air temp, but composting action is slower at cool temps - when the garage is 95 the bedding may only be 80, an OK temp for worms .... use a thermometer in the bin, not one in the room before you worry
