The name "cultured nightcrawler" usually refers to Eudrilus eigeniae, also commonly called the African Nightcrawler. This is a large tropical worm that has a poor cold tolerance, but is considered an excellent worm for bin culture and vermicomposting in mild temperature zones or in locations where they can be protected from cold. It does not breed as rapidly as does E. fetida, but it is much larger, making it generally more favorable as a bait worm.
