Just a question from a non worm person

Hello, I am not a worm person YET, but I use the castings I get from a commercial operation in my containers. I have been putting large chunks of cardboard down to kill the grass and to put my containers on. I moved a couple the other day and where the containers had been was alive with earthworms and there was NO CARDBOARD LEFT. Did the worms eat the cardboard?

partly - mostly they ate the bacteria that caused the cardboard to decompose - the glue in corrugated is attractive to microbes when wet, and so attractive to worms - also the damp cardboard on the surface creates a perfect environment for worms, dark, moist, and lots to eat

Come on, Ole Dawg, be a Worm Person. It's more fun than you can imagine. Keep reading this forum; We know how to live. In the Upcountry you can do it indoors, outdoors, fancy or plain. You'll feel SO GOOD keeping so much stuff out of the landfill, and your plants will love you for it. If you don't grow plants, you'll have friends who do!
