Cool. You got some really pretty ones! I usually only get solid deep purple, or pink with dark centers, which are great but wouldn't mind more variety.

I came back to ask if the top vine has continued to produce those same flowers. It's hard to tell from looking at the pic if it may have come out that way because something took a little nibble of it.

I get loads of I purpurea volunteers. I literally fill up trashbags with unwanted vines. Those seem to be the ones that reseed the most.

The plant has sent up 3 or 4 scalloped blooms so far (some more deeply lobed then others) but none have formed seed pods. There's no way that I'd be able to dig up the plant but I might try rooting a section. There is some slug damage in the pic I posted, a couple holes in the "petals". Almost everything in my garden has some slug damage this year. I can't spread the DE fast or often enough. The #@%& things are relentless!

Karen, have you tried beer to help get the slugs?

In past years I've used very shallow bowls, easy for slugs to climb into, put some cheap beer, cheapest I can find in the bowls, starting around 4-5 pm at night.

Next morning the bowls are full of "drowned slugs" that had their "last drink" before their demise.
They just can't resist the yeast that is in the beer.

I've also had good luck with sluggo when the slug problem is really bad. We had a lot of rain earlier in the spring this year and the slugs where really bad in the back with all my WS seedlings.

I put the sluggo out back and that was the end of them and put the beer out front around the hostas and other seedlings and presto they where gone there as well in about a week.

I've used beer in the past but all that gets me is slug damage along with trays of dead bloated slugs. lol I won't use Sluggo. Diatomaceous Earth works well but needs to be reapplied constantly and is impossible to apply in some areas. Because I don't use chemical controls many of my plants have imperfections due to pests but I've learned to deal with it.
