About three months ago I saved half of a 'finished' compost pile and put in a 3 ft. diameter wire cylinder in the shade to mature further. I give it an occasional sprinkle, but have otherwise left it alone. When I started to shovel it out today to top dress some perennials, I discovered millions of worms from about 2" under the surface to the bottom of the pile, which has shrunk from 20" tall three months ago to about 10" now. Can I harvest the worms to create a worm bin or should I just shovel them out with the compost? Will they thrive equally in the garden, the compost pile, and a bin? These are 'volunteer' worms, not purchased ones. Thanks for any advice. Wobur
