Have you taken it out of the pot and checked the roots? It could be nematodes, if it's in a pot, it could be pot-bound or any number of things. Does it have spider mites? I didn't think anything could kill cape honeysuckle! I would check the things I mentioned and let us know what you find, if anything.

Thanks for the response. This one is in the ground and has been for about 2 months. Started just at the base and was growing nicely up and around the metal trellis. Then all of a sudden the leaves started wilting and then overnight the whole bottom turned brown and is dying. The honeysuckles were in pots but the same exact thing happened. I have not seen any spider mites or anything else living on it. It might be too late to save, but is there any treatment you would recommend? Pesticide, soap etc?

Yes - drench it with a solution of two tablespoons of Bayer Tree and Shrub insecticide (available at Lowe's, Walmart and Home Depot) to one gallon of water. Also, spray this solution on all the leaves. CUT OFF the affected leaves first. I would bet my first born that you have spider mites or powdery mildew or aphids.

If this happened overnight, I would suspect something burrowing under the soil accidentally destroyed or purposely ate the roots. Until/unless you know what exactly happened, it doesn't make sense to treat for something that may or may not be there. Spider mites, aphids, and PM don't destroy plants overnight.

Thanks, I tend to think more on the side of the mites or mildew as the exact same thing happened to my cape honeysuckle which were in pots. While I love the idea of something burrowing underneath and destroying the roots, I dont think that would have happened in the pots

I thought tree drench (imitichloprid) was ineffective on spider mites. I read that over use of it has killed the predators and caused an explosion in spider mite populations...No?
