I live by a creek bed, and the shoals provide huge amounts of clean sand. I'm sure not going to pay money for granite. My mix is 1/3 peat, 1/3 compost, and 1/3 sand. I assume this is for a hole in the ground, with the caliche well excavated, rather than a pot. If you aren't going to use that hole for a while, I'd throw in a lot of leaves as well.
