In your zone a Golden Chalice vine would be beautiful. Thunbergia grandiflora and Petrea volubilis are also nice. There's such a wide selection that you can grow in a frost free climate. You could plant multiple varieties along such a long section of fence. Some of the trumpet vines are fairly well behaved. It's the Campsis radicans that's such a brute. The problem with the invasive vines is that they don't just spread along the fence. A Campsis can send up runners 20' away in another direction.

I would choose several types, like Karyn suggests, that way you can enjoy more than one thing on such a long area. Also, for climbers, on a wood fence, it would be good to staple up some chicken wire, for the climbers to climb on. So you can manage them a bit easier and they don't destroy your fence. :)

Thank you for that. I'm going to google those vines now and take a look. And thank you for the idea about the chicken wire. I had wondered how I could keep the vines climbing instead of drooping.

Take a look at Bignonia vines - there are several and they will all grow in your area. I have B. capreolata on my wooden privacy fence, it attaches itself to the wood and looks beautiful when in bloom as well as when it's not.

Ipomoea indica (perennial blue morning glory) would be lush, green, produce lots of blue flowers that change to a pink/purple shade towards the end of the day, and not require a lot of fussing to keep it alive.
