Which vines are best for 50' long hedge?

I really need some help! I am utterly hopless when it comes to gardening and I have been looking at vines and hedges for months now and am still no further forwards.

I have a large, ugly, wooden fence in my back garden and I want to cover it with something that will cover the entire fence which is about 50 feet in length.

I looked at trumpet vines which I know people say are invasive but with such a large area to cover I figured invasive is good - right?

Someone also recommended Carolina Cherry Trees but no where nearby stocks them.

So I guess I am looking for something fast growing that likes a lot of sun (the back garden gets sunshine ALL day and I live in Southern California), somthing that doesn't 'shed' too much as I have a pool, and just something really green, lush and pretty looking. Flowers would be nice but I don't want them to attract lots of bees as I have small children playing in the garden.

Any ideas? I really would love to hear from anyone who has some suggestions.
