I would hate the idea of throwing it out. I know that slugs like moist conditions. You could put it in a separate tub and dry it out, that would get the slugs in there to find a new place to live but I'm not sure about eggs and babies. Worst case scenario you could take the dried out compost and use at the base of some trees or spread on your lawn. At least it gets used and since the slugs could get there anyway I don't think it will do any harm.

Not really an expert on slugs though, my bins indoors so I just have the compost bugs and fruit flies to deal with.

My bin is indoors too and so far I have found about 4 - 3/8" size slugs. They probably came with the worms I bought. My initial worm purchase wasn't from a good source, from the guy who sold me my WF.

Hope you have some time on your hands - best to remove slugs and slug eggs from VC before adding to garden(eggs look like very small clusters of pearls). or i guess you could add VC to garden as is, but also put out a few slug traps.

I wouldn't throw out the castings. The slugs will be easy to remove, and the eggs are hard to miss since they're very white, not too small, and in clusters. Just pick through your bin with gloves if it makes you squeamish. I'm not a big fan of killing slugs either, yuck! But vermicompost has been the best thing for my garden it'd be a shame to waste :)

Just a question:
Would it work to burn the VC. Say spread it flat and cover with a black plastic bag in full sun for a couple of hours.
Any ideas experts?

Did you know that fireflies lay their eggs on slugs and when they hatch they eat the adult slugs. The adult fireflies eat nectar, which means they are pollinators. So yes slugs are not fun, but I so love to sit outside and watch the fireflies.
