The concentration of vermicompost you propose is well within the application rates recommended by research, so have at it! You might also consider, if you have the time and inclination, doing some side by side trials in which one group of plants uses vermicompost alone and another uses compost and vermicompost mixed together. There is a good deal of research showing that good compost (particularly if hardwood is a portion of the parent material) and vermicompost in combination better enhance plant growth than do either of these materials alone.

I personally feel that if youre doing good for the earth, keep going! Peat based stuff is imported, home made compost is cheaper in terms of money and energy. Am I over to all home-made potting soil, nope, not yet!

I have to disagree about the money & energy for home compost.
I can get 25lb bags for $4.95...I've tried making compost, would rather purchase then put in the work. Castings on the otherhand are VERY simple.
Peat is cheap too, 3cubic feet [compressed] for $25 and change...imported...from Canada...is that really an import?
