I don't know about newspapers, but I know that you can feed them nothing but corrugated cardboard and they will do all right.
On the other hand, I think it is pretty widely held that the nutrient value to plants of the worm compost varies in accord with the quality of the stuff that the worms ate. So I would put some vegetable waste and maybe some manure in there too.
And yes, definitely throw the coffee filters in the worm bin.

Definately throw in the filter, you can also throw in the complete tea bag(minus staple). It's amazing what can be put in the bin, I've now found a way to recycle my drier lint (yes, dryer lint). Obviously I give lots of vege matter to.

dryer lint for me too. Also hair from my 3 month haircuts, old underwear, old socks, vacuum cleaner stuff, and paper plates with scraps from dinner. I made a flow through bin so I have to find more stuff to put in there.

Okay, I'm drawing the line at old underwear. I'm okay with the lint and paper plates and the other stuff, but ....

I was thinking that the ink in paper might not be good for them, but I guess it doesn't seem to affect them.

Any other odd stuff that they might like? Let's try to keep it clean, though:)

I cut up some 100% cotton undies my son grew out of, threw out the waste band and reinforced seams but put the rest in the hot compost pile.

any organic material will decompose - bacteria are the primary agents of decomposition - bacteria are the primary food for worms .... provide an organic material and ample moisture and worms will thrive, or at least survive
