I have an 18 gallon rubbermaid container. Water tends to condensate in pools in the wells where the handles are on the side. I filled them with napkins to soak up excess moisture.

I've noticed that all of my worms have suddenly disappeared from my bin. When I lifted the napkins, a writhing mass of worms all bunched up inside were in the wells.

Why are they refusing to live in the bin and instead live in cramped crowded conditions in these tiny little wells with nothing but a napkin covering them? Do I need more bedding? Is my bin too acidic?
