Honeysuckle not doing good

Hi. I have a had a honeysuckle in the same spt for two years. Last year it looked great thru Sept. this year it has more wood then leaves. just afew stragles and I want to bring it back to life.. Does this plant need a hard pruning and if so when should I do it? I don't want to loose this plant..

Laura, I had the same promblem. It appeared it was time to give my pretty red honeysuckle a hair cut, so I did. May it rest in peace. :) Arum
