I don't mean to imply anything, but are you sure you have silver lace vines aka Polygonum auberti? Plants that are three years old should have bloomed LAST year - they are ususally in rampant bloom by September. Maybe yours is just a little late in blooming. Also, the lack of baby plants makes me wonder, because this is definently good at producing runners. Can you post a picture for us? Just because someone at a nursery says it's such-and-such doesn't make it so. Unless you got your plants from a plant that you actually saw in bloom, I would think some research is in order, to positively id what you have.

Imply away. I took these people at their word and it wouldn't be the first time I got snookered. I will take a couple of pictures of these vines and see if I can get them to you. Thanks for the response. If these aren't going to do what I thought they would I will have to rethink my east fence.

Miriah, we have all been schmoozed and lied to by individuals who fancy themselves knowledgable plant people. Most of the time these poor souls are just under-informed and guessing! If you said to some of them: "Where did you get this cool lettuce plant", they would say "I don't know, but it sure is a neat plant, huh?"

Sometimes, I enjoy going to the box store garden centers and picking a plant that's a little uncommon, give it a name, and convince the clerk that's what it is. I know, I'm terrible! When I worked at our City Flower Market, years ago, I sold more 'Purpleus Fleurous' plants than I care to mention. So you see, even experienced plant folks have to save face sometimes. LOL

shame on you kayjones...I don't know how you keep a straight face convincing them on the plants id. That's great. I have yet to get pictures, have been redoing a garden for some folks....lots of work. I will try tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks for your patience.
