Hi All; I don't know how Walley world tested the taste of the worms! That said perhaps the Supplier fed lots of garlic to the worms so you can smell it. I would think that the worms would carry some if they were raised in it as part of the body chemistry for a while until the worms had ingested other materials as food. Sort of like using red brick dust to enhanse the red color it stays until the worms eat another color food in large quantities.

There are also garlic artificial baits. I started fly fishing about a decade ago and have not used bait in about that long but fishing is a lot about experimenting with different things at different times of the year, different times of the day, etc. When trout fishing (with bait) in still waters, it can help to have bait that will emit odors in the water as an attractant. A lot of people will swear by different baits in different waters. There is also a powder you can buy that you feed to some dew worms to make them glow, as an extra attractant. I'm perfectly happy leaving my worms to my garbage and fishing dry flies.
