Can Asian jasmine climb vertically?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, but I want to know if anyone has grown Asian jasmine (the kind typically used as groundcover in the south) on a trellis or fence. If so, how tall can it get? I bought one small container because it's so cheap, and I planted it in the ground by my fence. I gave it some support with a trellis to make it grow upright. I just want to know if I'm wasting my time. I have a 6 foot privacy fence, and want to try to grow something to about 8 feet tall. I like that it's evergreen.

That's interesting that it's sold as a climber in the UK because I've only seen it as groundcover here. Well, I hope it'll grow up the fence nicely for me. I'm anxious to see what it will look like once it gets going. I wanted something that would grow pretty fast, and hopefully it will.

It grows like crazy here. it might grow even faster on a trellis. It needs no care. I got it by accident as a hitchhiker in a plant someone gave to me.

I have Trachelospermum asiaticum rather than T jasminoides but they're very similar. Mine is on a trellis. Both these plants are sold specifically as climbers here and I've never seen it used as ground cover. Possibly it would not do well in our damp winters at ground level. So, the answer to your question is 'yes'.

Sold almost exclusively as a climbing vine here as well. I have seen it used as a ground cover but much more popular as a vertical element. Can get as tall as 20'

It grew all over the gardens at our library in Florida. It is definitely a no care plant. Whatever it gets it is happy with.

The only thing I'm wondering now is if Trachelospermum asiaticum can tolerate afternoon sun. It would get this sun from about 11:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Texas summer.

I guess I am talking about the same jasmine. Looks the same. I have large areas of it as a ground cover. I have it here in North West Florida in full HOT sun. I am thinking about standing something up in the middle and see if I can get it going vertically.

Berry foot it’s now 7 years after your question. I’m keen to know if your asiatic jasmine did climb on your trellis?
