The freezer-burned green beans will probably be tasteless, but not of any danger. The would probably make a good "filler" for a tasty stew.

Oh yeah, I've reacted that way when I have found slimy things in my vegetable bin, or when a banana goes black. But I've never told anyone about it. LOL!

I'm assuming you were giddy because you could feed them to the worms.

I have bought perfectly fine mangos just for them. That is sick, my friend.

I won't tell if you don't. However if any of us start looking for the oldest, ripest, fruits and veggies to purchase, maybe we should seek help. We should at least have the will power to wait until it goes bad in the refrigerater.

LOL -- maybe it will pass, but since I set up my bin I think I'm back to eating more veggies... since I have a plan on what to do with all the scraps. And if I've chopped up some broccoli for my dinner, say, after dinner I chop up the big trimmings before putting into the container for the next worm dinner.

Probably not normal for most people, but normal for people who frequent vermicomposting forums! :-) (like me)

I bought a pumpkin to set on my porch, but it's not because I'm excited about Halloween, but so I can give it to my worms after Halloween! I justified it by the fact it was only $3. One of my neighbors has 4 pumpkins out front, and I'm going to ask them if I can have them when they're ready to throw them away. But I'm just telling them they're for compost, I'm not telling them I have worms in my house. Some things are just better left unsaid!
