A seed mat will definitely help and might even be necessary this time of year for the tropical aristolochias but with the exception of A. serpentaria I haven't found it necessary to cold stratify the hardier varieties.

Thanks, Karyn. The vendor is recommending stratification for the temperate species, so I plan to follow that recommendation! I do have access to a setup with an automatic misting system that will keep the air very humid, so if I can just get the seeds to germinate I should do just fine!
