If you are planning on catching them and holding them until you go fishing, it'll work fine, as long as they are cool enough.
If you scan the internet, you will find that there are people who have tried raising night crawlers. I would say as long as you are not trying to imitate the same success as the red worms, it'll work to a certain degree.
I have a bin of northern crawlers. I don't know how they are doing as I try not to disturb them much, but the last sample dig I dig proved to be many juveniles and not very many adults.
