question - can you help?

I am new to vines, and we have a large (long) lattice

"fence" across our deck and I'd like to plant something that will vine, but not with such big trunks that is starts breaking the lattice....does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like something like trumpet flowers, but I'm unsure if they'd "take over" too much. I do want bright colored flowers. Thanks for your time! Jennifer

You could plant something like cypress vine (Ipomoea Quamoclit) or cardinal climber (Ipomoea multifida). Both have small red trumpet-shaped flowers and attact hummingbirds. They cover well but they're lightweight.

Orange trumpet vine, if that's what you mean by trumpet flowers, is heavy and invasive. I have tons and I never planted any. My neighbors on one side had planted it and it comes up by underground roots on the OTHER side of my house. Want some? Come and get it. LOL
