I planted this vine in front of our large field stone chimney. Its about 15 years old and has started to grow over the house. Its huge. The branches go out in the front and sides about 3-4' from the chimney. Some of the stems are about 2" in diameter. My husband wanted to trim it back "just a little"......so I said okay........just 2-4' down from the top of the chimney.
Well, I went out to check on it, and he scalped it. He cut all the thick old branches off, and essentially gave it a burr haircut.
Will it all resprout next year? I'm pretty sure it will, but would just like a little encouragement that he didn't ruin it., I was really bummed when I saw how drastically he had pruned it.
Thanks.
