We recently purchased a house with a pergola that has robust Carolina Jessamine as a canopy. The pergola is positioned suched that one of its corners touches the corner of the house/roof.

Since the vines are in the gutters, I want to prune back as much as possible without harming the canopy. It is very thick and just had some flowers this week (Thanksgiving)!

Please provide advice on how to prune and control this vine. I've read many forums advising to wait until late Winter. How much can i prune away? When is the best time?
