Thanks in large measure to help and advice received in this forum, my Worm Factory set-up is now functioning beautifully (I had been keeping it MUCH too moist, and overfeeding). I have one more question: In each of the trays, when I lift it, I find many (hundreds) of worms dangling through the square holes in the bottom. This is true even of the lowest trays, to which no food has been added for months, so I can't conceive that it is an attempt by the worms to escape the heat of scraps composting. Similarly, I inspect all trays regularly and, as necessary, add fresh dry bedding to absorb any excess moisture, so it would appear the worms are not trying to escape drowning.

Is this "normal" worm behavior in this sort of set-up, or am I still missing something? All the "danglers" seem vigorous and healthy.
