Hello there Fellow compostures...I was curious to see how my composter was doing in the mid winter down below, so I dug a trench down the middle and all the way across....

Well about two feet down I came across some EARTHWORMS..I was surprise to see so many of them as we have had some pretty cool days of minus 20 celtius...But the majority of the winter has been exceptionally mild...(Thats why I was OUTSIDE YESTERDAY)

My wife dumps some of the casting of the redwrigglers on the COMPOST bin last spring, so I also seen some CALIFORNIA RED WRIGGLERS in there as well as EARTH WORMS..Some of them were pretty big too and red..

So I wondering if it might be possible that the EARTH WORMS would be BREEDING with the RED WRIGGLERS...?

So being I seen the worms I said to myself how will they survise if we get real real cold weather ? So what I did was dug down all around the out side of the mixture and put syrafoam boards in along side of the inside walls, as well as on topwith plywood on top of that....Being we don't have any snow for snow cover so that should help protect them....

SO I WAS WONDERING HOW EVERY ONES ELSES COMPOSTER DOING THIS TIME OF YEAR ?
