Dynamite crepe myrtle question/problem

we were looking for a red crepe myrtle to plant in one part of our front yard and wanted something that was in the medium height range...

but were able to find a Tonto or Centennial--

(and really want the deep, true red that a Dynamite has)

found a Dynamite at Calloways that had the height listed as 20--tree itself is maybe 4 ft tall now...

thought it was maybe species that would grow shorter than other Dynamites

it is going in front flowerbed--by the driveway--

we have two oaks trees in front yard --maybe 15 ft tall now but they will grow and branch out...one is about 15 ft away from where the crepe is

20 ft is taller than we want but we thought it would take some time to achieve and hopefully we can restrain/restrain somewhat without butchering it too badly so we got it...

then I read that Dynamite can grow to 30 ft tall...

my husband is not going to want to undo what he has done I am afraid though...

how fast/tall/broad is this likely to grow???

it is possible to prune it back w/o the crepe murder type of trimming and keep it within our boundaries...

I really wanted that dark red color...
