That is surely odd. Would neighbors have done something drastic?

elly, i don't know. it just is so very strange to not have them around. it must be, since i don't see the rabbits either. thank God my dogs just don't go off and wander, i guess i'd never see them again

I have the usual amount of squirrels around here. You know, as much as I may complain about them, I'd hate it if they were to one day all disappear.

On nests right now. At least ours are. The first brood of early babies has emerged and they are silly little clowns but the later birthed babies will be still nesting with mommy. At those times the squirrels are quite overtly absent. We 'do' feed our mommies though. I give them cut up apple pieces and shell peanuts so they have lots of strength for nursing and rearing their babies. AND so they stay out of my other bird feeders ;o) Method to my madness you could say. So yea, it's possible your absent squirrels are nursing their babies right now.
