He is darling! I happen to love the squirrels-especially when they have babies and you can watch them scurry around and play :) They do eat the bird seed, but it's a small price to pay for the entertainment!

I too love the squirrels. But what to do when they're destroying all my plants? They pull down on branches and eat the leaves, they've broken a lot of them, they've dug up perennials.....

I have so many plants caged. I did it for the bunnies. But it isn't the bunnies doing any harm, it's the squirrels!

I've found that Hinder works. I originally used it for a rabbit repellent but it seems to work for squirrels too. You just have to reapply it after it rains.

Marauding squirrels is a term often used on the bird forum. As with many things having squirrels is a trade off. This is the time of year when many birds are starting their second nests. Squirrels raid nests. They are extremely agile and can get to the Balt. Oriole nests at the ends of the branches. They also confiscate wood duck boxes. As you can see, squirrels are not my favorite.

Our neighbor hates squirrels; the other day he asked if we had any young squirrels missing...he had caught more in his trap. He said he had caught and killed 21 in the last year. Thus far I have no problem with them other than they have planted pecans in all my flowerbeds so I have young pecan trees coming up from the front of our lot to the back! LOL
