could the rain have washed them away? I believe they like heat and I've seen them germinate in a week or less when it's really warm. Are the seeds old? Are they Persian Carpet...I tried those twice with poor results.

I'm betting your seeds were either buried too deep or they got washed away by the rain. I've had much better results by starting them in flats indoors; they germinated within a few days for me that way, and germination rate was much higher. Inside, they liked to be just barely covered, or even just set on top of the soil.

I never have luck in flats. I work the soil a bit, add compost, and sprinkle the seeds on top. Then I just lightly brush the soil with my fingers, tamp down with my hand, and water really good, but with a fine mist.

Could be any of the reasons listed above. But everyone has that plant that they just can't grow, lol. Maybe this one is yours. Mine is a houseplant that I can't spell the name of. Diffenbachia? or something. Kill it every time!

They like to be just tossed out into the garden and misted...Mine reseed and come back like mad each year..they are just now popping up and have a couple of small blooms...maybe they need more time?...they adore full sun!!..Jeanne

I think it is because we have less sunshine than usual this spring. Many of mine are just now germinating, while a few are already blooming.
