What critter lays eggs on asparagus fronds?

There are several egg masses (some green, some pink) on the asparagus ferns. Does anyone know if any beneficial insects use asparagus ferns to lay their eggs? I don't want to let asparagus beetles gain a foothold but also don't want to kill any of the good guys either. If anyone knows of other critters that use this plant and that we'd like to encourage to stay in our gardens, please let me know.

My Wagner's Caterpillars of Eastern North America lists two asparagus feeders, the Small Purplish Gray (Iridopsis humaria) and the Cabbage Looper (Trichoplusia ni) but again this is the eastern book and I see your location is in Vancouver, BC so this may not help at all...
I have always had to pick off small single black eggs in the spring--never been able to pin down exactly what they were but I still did not think they would taste any better steamed and with a bit of butter and lemon.
