It'd be best to contact a wildlife rehabber and see what they say. I've used the Optional Link URL feature to include a link GW's Bird Watching Forum has for this purpose.

I wouldn't be surprised if you'll hear it's best to just leave opossums alone until the babies are big enough to leave if possible. That's what we were told when we had raccoons in our chimney one time--pretty disconcerting to hear their claws on the flue, but they really didn't harm anything other than drive my cats crazy for a while. We've capped the chimney after that experience.

I never knew there was a US Opossum Society before, but I found it with a Google search. I'm supplying the link. They have a FAQ page which addresses opossums in the garage, but with babies involved I'm suspect this suggestion is not the right answer. The site also says you can send them an email if your answer can't be found after searching their site.

Opossums are marsupials, so they should either be in mom's pouch or on her back most of the time. How did she get into the garage? Do you leave the door open a lot? Is there a hole someplace? Do you keep dog food or other food stuff/seed in there that she may be tryig to get to? The next time she goes out, make sure all the babies go too (they are typically nocturnal, so night time checks) and then close up how she's getting in and out. They should all be fine.

The garage door sometime comes open at night, and where you get up in the morning you find it all the way up, don't know if someone has the same code for the garage door opener or not.

This could be how it got into the garage. Took all the feed out and put it in my shed.

Have not seen it lately, hope it packed up and left.

How about throwing some smoke bombs in the garage think that would drive them out?

There are no baby opposums in Ohio in November. Not sure what you are seeing.

The trick is to keep these animals off your premises completely. It is most easily done with water spray deterrents. Works for raccoons and all kinds of other animals.
