Did they turn yellow & then fall off?

I don't think they turned color, but the last few days were kind of hectic, been gone allot. Turned thermostat down because we were gone so much. Was wondering if that could have something to do with it? Leaves look real healthy. Water seems right.......just checked remaining buds, none of them are discolored.

Well, mine have blasted from drafts, so, yeah. Maybe the cooler temps. Sometimes when that happens the spike sends out another shoot--that would be nice :)

My orchid mystery is solved. The buds were "plucked" by a curious 7 year old who thought they were cool looking. Sorry to trouble you, but thanks Constance. Feel foolish.

Yikes!!! Well, at least you know the plant isn't sick--whew! My curious Labradoodle pup bit off a whole bud spike--maybe he liked the nectar drops? I've learned to put all orchids in spike up, up, and away :0

Oh yes tootswisc, my own. Had to reach around some very thorny cactus to do it too! We've had ourselves a good long talk. I'm happy the orchid isn't sick, and happy she was honest, confessed, and really seems to be sorry.

I have a shooting star in my yard-one lonely shooting star that I tend to admire almost every day when it's in bloom. Same thing happened to that flower-only it was a neighbors kid. It's sad but a part of life. Kids don't mean to snip off our treasures but sometimes they are just to interesting not to!

Gave my daughter an amarylis when she had one of her babies. She carried it over and next two years, little fingers snipped off the nice big bud while she was eagerly awaiting the bloom, so you have company in your misery.
