Just a little background before the question: A couple of my neighbors have black walnut trees. That means my choices for woody ornamentals is very limited, especially in the shade of black walnuts. Kerria does well in shade and will grow under black walnuts.
Is anyone in zone 4 growing kerria? They are borderline hardy here - a harsh winter could kill older stems. The more reputable nurseries won't sell kerria because of that potential problem. I was wondering how much winter kill you've experienced, and since kerrie does well rejuvination pruning, would some winter is a liability.
