Which cultivar do you have? I have Arnold's Red, it should be hardy to zone 4. It survived last winter and is doing ok this year, but not great. I read that it prefers moist neutral to acidic soil, and needs a south or southwest exposure. Last year it was getting a little too much shade, so I move it to a better location.

Are you having trouble with yours?

I rec'd some cuttings in the mail from a trade. And, i rooted them in water - only two have made it to the point of growing nicely in pots on my deck. So, since they were newly formed little plants, i over-wintered them in a back room. They are more established now and i would like to put them in the ground and i don't want to be disappointed next spring if they don't come back. I don't know the variety...Maybe i could just plant one outside and over-winter the other inside again.
