We planted hyacinthoides nonscripta in our woodland garden perhaps 4 years ago, and they have yet to flower. By contrast, the Virginia bluebells planted last year are in vigorous bloom this first year.

The woods is zone 5 with good soil and drainage, nonirrigated, so somewhat dry midsummer, filtered shade season-long from mixed deciduous trees.

Are the English bluebells fussy re some pH, micronutrient, or moisture variant that we need to adjust, or do we just need to continue to be patient? The individual plants have returned vigorously for the past three springs and are now perhaps 4" tall. But we didn't plant bluebells for the foliage, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
