Hi Julie, I use chlorinated water all the time for my indoor plants. I just run gallon jugs full and leave them set a day or so and the chlorine evaporates. So if you'd have a large container to run the water into, you could use it for your gardens the same way. I would think if you were sprinkling right from the well, after a couple days the chlorine should be diluted enough for the water to be used safely.

how much chlorine? You can dump a swimming pool of chlorinated water onto the lawn and not harm it at all. It would take a strong mega dose to see adverse reactions from most plants.

I did a lot of Googling yesterday, and came to the conclusion that once the chlorine odor was gone from the water, it would be safe to use. I don't know how much chlorine the well guy dumped in our water, but we had to let it sit for 24 hours before flushing it out. I ran the hose for 3 hours yesterday, and the chlorine odor was gone. I ran it another hour just for good measure.

I drank the water last night for the first time, and haven't died, so I conclude it's safe for my plants.
