Boston ivy has small leaves and wild grape has large leaves.does that help?

Many wild grapevines, especially as they get a bit older, will be darker brown and have an almost papery/shaggy bark looking like it is peeling off of the vine. The grapes will look different than any ivy berries although with either one birds will pick them off so quickly you will have to check often. I would also agree that you want neither type of vine growing on your house for the sake of the house (but it does look nice I admit). If forced to choose, I would choose the grape. BTW, I recently visited a vinyard in Florida that makes good wine from the native muscadine grape.
