Last year, I joined the American Horticultural Society (after visiting their garden head quarters in Virginia). I *love* their magazine. They have a 'dead tree' edition, and one online. I read it cover to cover, and refer back to it, often.

I don't recommend Garden Gate. It's the only one I've subscribed to and I won't be renewing. It is extremely redundant, with articles and photographs, basically the same info transferred from one subscription to the next. Imagine my surprise when I opened the second issue to find the same pics as the one prior! Seriously? They just keep repeating the same info, with maybe a couple new articles. That's it.

Unfortunately, this is the only one I've subscribed to, so I don't have any other suggestions for you.

I subscribe to 2 mags, "Fine Gardening" & as an ARS member, "American Rose", they're fairly decent but often have articles I'm not interested in or cover things/plants that don't work in my Z4 area. I agree that "Garden Gate" along with "Horticulture" & "Organic Gardening" don't do much for me but I do check out copies of them at the library from time to time. A blog I get & like is the U of MN "Yard & Garden News"---link below. The internet is probably my main source know as I've built up a good file of 'garden favorites' links that are reliable info sources. I agree with Ruth about good pictures. Also there are a lot of good garden events in the first 4 months of the year thru out the state & I try to take in some of them---check this link out (there should be a lot more events added after the first of the year as more events are finalized)
