If you can get some bloodroot, Dutchman's britches, Spring beauty, and trout lily, they would all grow well in your woods. I also plant spring bulbs (scilla 'siberian squill' looks great next to bloodroot,) and I love the little species tulips.They remain small (I plant them in groups of at least 6-8) and naturalize over the years.

Bloodroot, wild ginger, false solomon's seal, virginia blue bells, baneberry, blue cohosh, trout lily, running strawberry vine (euonymus obovatus), Uvularia, violets, wild blue phlox, marginal fern, maidenhair fern, wood poppy, wild geranium (G. maculatum), wild columbine, foam flower are some of the plants in my woodland.

The biggest problem is finding ethical nurseries to buy them as they are all native and often wild collected. I buy mine at wildflower society sales and small native plant nurseries.
