Hey Ad. Just by coincidence, I've been recently eye-balling a golden-foliaged cultivar-'Sun King'-for use in large containers in my community's downtown area. As such, they would never be in proximity to wild areas, certainly not high-quality natural areas. Should I then still be concerned about escape into the wild? Last thing I want to do is set up another invasive problem. But the plant does have attributes which would make it useful in our system.

Should have checked the species. You're talking alata, I'm looking at cordata. Oh well, any comments still welcome, of course.

Different species. Aralia cordata is a fully herbaceous perennial and far less likely to set fruit. 'Sun King' has been around for several years and I've never even seen it flower, let alone produce the berries. Grown primarily for its stunning bright gold foliage (even in rather heavy shade), I think you'll be perfectly safe.
