Was walking through the woods at my sister-in-law's the other day and found these little plants that resemble small holly bushes. The leaves are dark green with white veins. The largest one i found was 4" tall. They seem to grow on underground runners. I thought they were a holly because the leaves feel like a holly, but they look to shoot up an individual flower, as there are the seeds still on them. The foliage is stunning! I pulled up a bunch of them to plant with hostas, but don't know where to begin trying to identify them. Any ideas? Also noticed a number of large arrow-shaped leaves with silver speckles, bulbs underground. Any ideas on that..could they be types of wild gingers?
