Another photo::

I grew those a year or two ago. They get much yellower- the entire melon. If you google for pictures you'll see what I mean. And they slip off the vine easily. Don't worry if you get a couple too early. There will be lots more to come.

Thanks so much for the advice. When I googled it, it said not to leave them on the vine because they would get 'sunburned.' It's in full sun, so I thought that I should take it off early. I've since pulled it off, but it did not come off easily. I twisted and yanked to get it off, but it was already fully yellow. Here's a pic.

I really appreciate your tip that they 'slip off easily.' I'll be sure to let them do that next time instead of wrestling it off. It's good to know that there will be more coming. We haven't tasted it yet, but we will today. Thanks.

Roselee, thanks for the link. I love the opening line. "...fresh produce excites me!" How can I deny that! I can't wait to taste it, but we haven't, yet. If I can ever drag DH out of his 'cave' long enough, we will. No telling how long that will be, lol. I'm hoping it will be sometime today!

We just have teeny tiny ones left on the vine, but as soon as they grow, I'll take some to you. :-)

The melon was sweet and tasted like a crunchy cantaloupe. We liked it. We plan to grow more next Spring.
