I'm so excited I could burst!

I'm so excited I could burst!

I wanted to introduce myself. I am a writer, educator and sculptor. I have been lurking on this forum for a while and wanted to share some things, maybe even take part on a regular basis. I do write about gardening, but also about anything that excites me. I also utilize my writing to promote my artwork. ( writings and artwork can be found at www.creativesculpture.com)

More importantly I wanted to share something else, this is better than getting that major article published!

My dd just went off to college. 6 months before she left I encouraged her to write for the local paper. Get her feet wet so to speak. Oh how she grumbled every time deadline came and I would remind her. But she did it. As a graduating senior she had 6 articles under her belt. They paid very little just $35. A piece but what the heck - she is published. I reminded her "If you do this it will put you ahead of your peers in college."

So she calls me to day and tells me that her first day in communication class she meets this girl who talks about a position open in the communications department. She regrets that, even though it is a job that she would die for, she could not apply because she did not have any published work. She passed it on to my child. The department can not believe her abilities or the amount of work she has done.

This should be encouragement to all of those reading who are wondering how do I begin?

At the end of her senior year I also encouraged dd to send photos and articles to school paper and the year book, both of these pay or give scholarships. Once again they are so impressed with the amount and quality of work, and because she sent her stuff in last year, they were actually looking for her.

Ahh sometimes a mom can do right! Oh my I think I have nurtured a writer. How she is blossoming!

As a well known Zen Buddhist monk said, "Just do it."

Nike stole the slogan centuries later.

Yes, publish anything you can, anywhere you can for a short time, for pay ... then you get the Golden "P" on your clothing (stands for published) and things get a whole lot easier.

Icreate, I went to your website and was very impressed. After the initial Shock & Awe of all the technological steps involved I would say you have my admiration and respect as a true artist.

Well, I don't think everyone on this forum wants to hear all about me though they're starting to get an idea from all my posts. As far as writing goes I am not real productive but I do write for a local magazine called Greater Atlanta Gardener. I also contribute to several newsletters and have articles on my website. I dread to say I'm working on a book since I read that people don't care what you're "working on" just what you've accomplished - I remember, it was Dr. Phil who said that .

I do care what you are working on. In fact, I am helping my husband with his first book. I can't say I have had the privilege of doing my own book.

Books are hard work. I wish to God his was done. Unfortunately or fortunately he has a book deal for book two and three. So please, please tell me what your book is about, what is your deadline, and is this your first? Do you still see your family or are you pulling your hair out at every deadline?

Most of my writing has been about myself and to promote my sculpting. Just recently I realized how much I love it and have been writing for monthly paper for a year now. I write about anything I want, so that is quite fun. Some assignments. But truly I would say I am a beginner.

Can you give me your web site so I can take a look a your other stuff?
