No, I haven't, Katy, but if you have published anything (as we both have) you do get these solicitations now and then. I just toss them in the trash. This won't be the last one of these things you'll see.

A few months ago, when I was getting frustrated finding a publisher for my current book I emailed Xlibris for more info. Ever since, I have been receiving emails from them advertising "specials".
Needless to say, I didn't find their deal compelling. You pay, they sell (maybe).

Oh yes, they've been bothering me on and off for years. They're self-puplishers and you have to pay a whopping percentage of the upfront costs. I keep telling them I write for .org fair use but they don't get it.

I add their mails to my circular file.

When I was in college, a friend of mine had a mother who was publishing a book on grief, and I was asked to submit an essay. The essay was accepted and I was so excited! At only 18, I was going to be a published author and get royalties. Well... here I am ten years later, and I have never seen a penny--none of the contributers have. And yet the book was sold through Barnes and Nobles, Borders, Amazon, and etc. Apparently, all the profits were eaten up by "publishing costs." (You guessed it, the publisher was Xlibris.) Just thought I would throw in my own two cents :)
