what is it?

we have recently found very small bugs on the walls in our finished basement. they are about 1/4" long, dark brown in color and appear to have 2 wings. we have not noticed them flying around and if they are touched they do not move much at all. i have not been able to take a good photo to post. are there any good websites you can recommend to help me identify these. i googled how to identify insects, but did not find any websites that were very helpful. we live in northern ohio. any other suggestions on how to identify and eliminate these would be greatly appreciated.

Basement likely means relatively high humidity. If so, perhaps moth flies, also called drain flies.

If so, not damaging. But they do indicate excess moisture. Perhaps a dehumidifier?

the body is maybe 1/4" long and very narrow between 1/16" and 1/8" wide. wings appear to lay on top of the body. they do not stick out like a commom fly or the drain fly mentioned. they move extremely slow. we do have a humidfier in use at 40%. i did not see any similar likeness on bug guide. any other thoughts? thanx
