Howdy Y'all!

Well, I was supposed to be moving back to OK this spring. It turns out that I am moving to TX instead. Been stuck in KS for a while. Mighty cold up here, but its got good soil (it does now anyway).

Probably moving to the Henderson area. That's where Mom lives *sighs* and now I'm probably gonna have to build that new bathroom she has been talking about for 16 years.

I garden semi-organically and have done so for as long as I can remember. I love compost. I wish they would make a compost scented perfume for women. Now, I could go for that!

Heh-heh!

I also seem to have somewhat of a strange sense of humor.

"I also seem to have somewhat of a strange sense of humor."
Welcome! I'm origionally from CA. You should blend right in with the sense of humor. Most of the women on this forum frequently smell like compost. Right now I smell like a cross between the maters I harvested before the freeze tonight and the Copper Canyon Daisy I had growing around it to discourage pests. Only lost ONE tomatoe out of around 50. I think the Copper Cyn is working! (Thank you Jolana!!!) :) PJ

Welcome!!!! We speak your language and appreciate your humor ... :-)

    Welcome!

I'm a compost junkie my own self!

I love a funny sense of humor and the smell of compost! You will fit right in!

"I wish they would make a compost scented perfume for women"

A funny gardener with good ideas.

Yep, you're in the right place.

    Welcome!

Compost scented perfume. I could go for that. How about compost "makeup"? I was out the other day running errands. Came home and looked in the mirror. I had dirt in my ears.

Prickly, your look will NEVER be complete without a bug or two in your hair too.
Jolana is the real fashion queen tho. She had an entire spider web like a "hair net" LOLOLOL! PJ

Howdy back! I'm in Tyler and I compost, too. Come on back to East Texas, we'll welcome you here.

I love it! A woman who wears spider webs for a hair net. 'Nuther one with bugs in her hair (maybe them two ought to put their heads together?) one that smells like maters AND compost, and then one what rolls in the compost pile before she goes to town!

    Yep, Y'all will do.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

To complete the look you must add a few crunchy dried out crepe myrtle blooms to your web.

    LOL!

Any man who could resist that little touch, has to have a heart of stone!

Oh, I think most women who garden appreciate the smell of compost - maybe not as a perfume, but still enjoy the scent. We also enjoy a sense of humor. Welcome to Texas!

    Huh?

    'doo'
uhhhhh ---- 'they' are laying a clever trap. Think, 'Black Widow'. As 'they' welcome you and you become complacent and relaxed - they strike!

'They' dispute your claims of hummingbird sitings, draw cross-hairs on your photos of disputed hummers, paste bass boats, hummingbirds, grasshoppers, hand-drawn shrubs & ponds (with accompanying fish) on your pictures of your yard. Vicious, vicious ladies here.

At least when your gardening 'brothers' nail you here, it doesn't feel like a shark feeding frenzy. SOMETIMES your buddies will assist you, but, don't count on it.

Enter at your own risk -- and by all means -- have a great time!
    ; - )
    J.D.

btw - NEVER forget who offered you plants. It gets REALLY ugly then!! AND NEVER EVER SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT C*TS!

    Howdy Justin!

I already figured out the trap. "Oh what a clever web we weave" and all that. I was raised with southern women. There ain't much that scares me more than a southern woman. I'd just as soon put my doo-dad in a fire ant pile, than anger one of these Gals.

I'm smarter than they are. Ya see, I figured it out. I just do whatever they want me to. Never argue. Never complain. Hillary aside - women basically rule the world. If Momma ain't happy - ain't nobody happy!

Except when it comes to my garden or my dogs. Then I am an implacable enemy.

Now J.D., you know that we were all just trying to help when we helped you design your back yard and I really am sorry I put the pond in your neighbors yard instead of yours. That's a mistake even the best of us can make.

Sheesh...you'd think by adding the boat to the pond a guy would forget a tennie mistake like that.

    Carol,

You put the pond in the neighbors' yard?

That is a fine choice. Really good thinking. Cuts down on taxes that way.

    And you supplied the boat?

I just can't imagine anybody being upset about that.

Now, J.D. - see how easy that was?

You need to quit being obstinate and admit you were wrong. Your life will be much longer if you do. I hear spider bites kill some people.

I bet I did save him a bundle in taxes. J.D. you should buy me some plants for saving you all that tax money.

I didn't add the boat but after watching "Second Hand Lion" it looked like a good idea.

    Here's the whole story:

Here is a link that might be useful: it all started with Roundup

    Alright then!

*wipes tears from his black and blue eyes*

That had me rolling on the floor and my belly hurts from laughing.

Yeah, I'm in the right spot.

So does this mean you don't want us to help design your yard?

ok, ok, ya'll go ahead and laugh - and like I said - have a GREAT time!

    J.D.

Yep, I would say would be a pretty fair assessment of the situation.

Unless I can have a road-grader in it.

I have always wanted a road grader in my front yard. Maybe with some pretty little red flowers sprouting out of it at odd angles. AND a happy little waterfall cascading gently down the wind-shield.

Even better if you could get it up on cinder blocks.

    Pure heaven!

Welcome to Texas. I am one of the other male gardeners on this site. Most of us tend to stay in the background, it makes life much easier and I normally don't have all that much to say. I just enjoy reading the posts to see what everyone is doing.

Gardening in East Texas is a dream, I use to live in Linden, bought as far east as you can go in the northern part of East Texas. Up there you could stick a twig in the ground and it would grow. I had the best garden and the easiest one I ever grew while we lived there. Now I am back in the alkaline soils of central Texas. Takes a little more work, but its closer to home.

Enjoy being back in the state. I know your Mama will be glad to have you around.

Been through Linden more than once. It is certainly prime garden area.

Yeah, I know my Mom will love it. Just talked to her and she said she wished she had a new roof.

    *sighs*

That's OK Mom, I'll get right on that. Nah, I don't need to build that fence for my dogs. They'll do just fine playing in that highway over there. What's that? Nah, I don't need to fix my well. It's a myth that people need water to survive anyways.

    Heh-heh!

You're in the right place and have the right attitude.

JD loves every minute he spends with any one (or the group) of us, don't let him fool ya.
