I would cut off any "moldy" leaves. It could be something that will spread to your other plants. Barbra and I both got day lily rust from plants we bought.

Oh, no. Sorry to hear that. I never heard from anyone by late this evening and I was out there thinking about planting it but I was scared it might spread to something else so checked it closer and all the bad leaves already had a little growth bud at the juncture so I cut off all the bad ones and repotted it into a bigger pot for now. I wonder if I double pot it and insulate in between if I could leave it out for the winter. My garage is going to be packed with plants and if its something that might spread I would prefer to isolate it and watch it.

This happens every year to my hydrangeas which happen to be my favorite plant. I live in Houston and humidity is always a problem and this time of year starting in Sept. the leaves get...funky....each spring however they come back looking just fine. I never thought of treating them with anything.

mine lose those leaves every Fall, too. Be careful in trimming the stems back, as some varieties put flowers on old growth while some put flowers on new growth. Don't ask me which ones....... I let the freezes take care of it.
