I'm goin' with a chubby Polyphemus Moth cat (Anthera polyphemus). Neato.

Crap! Should have brought him in....dang it!
Well, maybe I will look around for him tomorrow...

Thanks DBD...can always count on you!! :O)

know that cat is a beauty. Great pic too. You have been very lucky to find some great critters. Do you live on a wooded lot? I see some great moths and butterflys but I don't find very many neat cats. I will now keep my camera in my garden aprin when I go out to work in the garden.

Oh, I hope you find it, Cat. He's so chubby and since he's wandering around, he's probably looking for a place to pupate!

Here is a link that might be useful: Polyphemus cocoon

When I went back to find him the next morning, he was gone...I will try to search again for the cocoon....not sure how long they stay in there...

I hope he stayed close to the tree or picnic table that he was on...

If I find him, I will post again...

I am far from being an expert, but could that be a luna moth caterpillar?

Whatever it was, I could KICK myself for losing track of it....I can only hope it found a safe place to sleep and morph!!!

Webby should have her Halloween costume be a tee shirt with the words "Kick me" on the back. LOL
