Buckeyes and Overwintering?

About two weeks ago I bought several Diascias in one gallons just because there were strange looking (I've never seen any other than the green lettuce-eating types) caterpillars on them. Turns out by eating habits they're common buckeye caterpillars? They'll eat snapdragons as well.

The problem is that I've been trying to raise them, and so far I've got two chrysalis, but it's been a week and no butterfly. I read somewhere that they only take six days to emerge, and other places say they overwinter (it IS a bit chilly inside the house at all times). What should I expect? Have they died?
