One of my neighbors has a rechargeable mower and complains about the weight, prefering their old gas mower that can easily be pushed. She was admiring our lightweight reel mower this summer. I bought it at Target @ 15 years ago for $99 and have had to spend $50 during that period to get the blades sharpened. This is the very best option, imo. The inablilty to paragraph must have just started.

A neighbor has a rechargeable, she loves it. It is heavy but her lawn is very gently sloped; she seems to maneuver okay. She uses some sort of solar recharger and has a spare battery, so she can do the whole lawn in one session. I've been envious that she can start mowing early (our neighborhood practices courtesy-silence [no machinery use] until after 9a on weekends). It will be interesting to see what others have to say about the battery types. I gave up on reel mowers after my knee gave out. I wasn't enthused before then anyhow. No doubt if I had been better about keeping blades absolutely sharp and had used a brand with easier height adjustments, I might have liked it better. New ones are lighter in weight, but the grass catchers don't seem any better in design. I found the catchers awkward to use and empty; and they added much weight and decreased maneuverability. I doubled and then tried trebled space for paragraphs -- interesting to see the space disappear. Do you suppose the Master will pay attention to objections? It certainly doesn't look like a professional formatting objective! And boy, it sure does make the posting hard to follow .\/.

When I lived in the 'burbs I had one of those push-reel mowers and loved it...now that I'm on 100 acres of rugged bush it wouldn't cut the mustard....I only mow an area about the size of a tennis court (my fenced orchard/vege patch) plus around the house to prevent brush fires. But I'm not manicuring a lawn...these are tough native grasses that grow knee-high (like your prairie gardens) and I just want to clear the necessary areas... Regards, Shax

I have had a Black and Decker rechargable mower for 3 years now. It works okay, not great. My old Toro had a faster spinning blade and cut a little cleaner. You have to keep your blade sharper with the battery.

Weight wise, I have checked them out next to the Hondas in the store. They are basically the same weight. You can certainly get lighter weight piston mowers but they come with their own issues.

Weight? Gas mowers can be self propelled, why not self propelled electric mowers for your lawn? Availability? Somebody invent one and sell it. Can't get a patent? So what, why are you greedy? Back to the basics, life is much more than money. No one person is anything more than the rest of us, flesh and bones, that's all. On a spiritual level, we are all the same, and we are responsible for what we do and say. Who will be judged for what you do and say? You will, not the government. Screw their hidden agendas, act on your own, instead of relying on them to tell you (propheticly) what's right and wrong. The spirit of life (God) that resides in all of us tells us what's right, and has given us the power to change. Have we allowed government to determine the future? Do you see where they're leading us? They have fueled greed long enough. Stand up and be counted!
