Why are you pulling up very old Liebherr threads on how to fix the ice maker yourself? Frankly if I can afford the fridge, I'm calling a repair person to do the job for me.

Search engines such as Google index all threads in the database. Other people can find it same as did BDSlack, they may well appreciate the information.

Thank you, beds lack! We gave up on the ice maker years ago. When we build our garage we'll have room for a water softener, and we'll probably try to revive it. I'm saving your much appreciated advice.

Ignore those that, for some reason, have a problem with pulling up old threads. Annoying as heck when those in need start researching and can't find help...

I work full time and can't take a day off to wait for a repair person. What if they cancel and i have a friend over to wait? Then ask for another favor?...

No way I'm having a repair person to fix something so easy. I do most of my repairs myself. At my leisure and convenience.

Cycle through per directions! After 6 it will go back to one. Be patient watch the flashes. Currently trying to fix this issue on mine. Waiting on a new tray to come In. I have a feeling my heating element has died.

My ice maker has stopped producing cubes but still drops water into the ice drawer which then freezes into a lake of water in layers. the tiny button seems to be frozen in on position. if i remove the ice drawer will it stop dispensing water into the drawer, or will i have a bigger issue frozen ice water everywhere.

Just purchased our new Leibherr refrigerator/freezer and had the same experience- repair tried to tell us how to repair ourselves we demanded in person repair from company we purchased $8,000+ from they got involved and sent local repair - ice jammed, door stuck, bin cracked etc etc a mess ! We had to purchase a Leibherr because we were replacing a 34 yr old Subzero which we loved ! All their frigs have standardized to 83 inches and our space with drop down could only accommodate 82” with out tearing out ceiling - long story - anyway we love the frig but the ice maker is problematic- to say least - repair man came diagnosed- reset ice maker and said it had stuck in position that didn’t allow water to fill it - then Leibherr sent wrong draw to replace cracked one he came again And had to convince someone on phone it was wrong drawer (we never would have known that !) new drawer arrived then installed-still ice maker didn’t work - ordered new ice maker - installed yesterday working - keeping our fingers crossed alls well - I reall appreciate the reviews here and am left wondering why Leibherr doesn’t engineer their ice maker in a superior manner - the fridge is great
What we know now is that the ice maker was over filling causing the blockage in the first place so we’ll keep an eye on that and now we know we can adjust that ! Thanks to all participants- I always say there is nothing like advice from “the front lines” !!

Can anyone tell me where this wire goes? The ice maker is not working and, since I’ve never seen this wire before, I assume this is the reason. Any help would be appreciated .

@Teri Beck That looks a lot like a wire that goes into the underside of the ice tray. I accidentally detached mine trying to troubleshoot, so I know where it came from, just not how to hook it back up. It seems to just nestle between the styrofoam and the ice tray?

I've had so many problems with my ice maker (C1651) and have made some repairs myself. First I replaced the ice tray as it was cracked. Then I had to replace the ice level lever arm. Now I'm having issues again with water leaking into the bin and freezing everything into a lump. I was able to watch after it filled with water and saw that it was dripping from the tray, but when I took it out and tested it, I could not get it to leak. Have now put it back having detached that cable and tried to reattach it, and it won't work, just flashes the orange light. So frustrated!

Update: I was able to get mine working again, but the tray was cracked and leaking. I tried patching the cracks with Plastidip but realized that there were another problem compounding the issuer: the ice was not demolding. So it would fill the tray and then be unable to demold, so the next batch of water overflowed. This is probably sue to scale build up inside the mold causing the cubes not to detach when the tray gets flexed. So I used Plastidip to completely seal the entire underside of the ice tray, then soaked the interior in vinegar overnight before scrubbing to remove as much scale as possible. It worked perfectly for a few weeks and now it has started to leak again.

According to my extensive research, the issue is that the trays crack easily under the strain of being flexed to demold, and they are also prone to scale build-up. The only long term solution would be to use a different material for the tray that doesn't crack or accumulate scale.

Replacing the tray lasts a year or two. This would be tolerable if you could buy the trays for a reasonable price. But they are only sold in a kit with the housing for over $100.
